Tokyo-born Tatsuro Kiuchi produced these lovely illustration for a book called ‘Downtown Rocket’/下町ロケット by Jun Ikeido. I think it’s the overall atmosphere that draws me in, there’s something quite film noir about it. There’s a kind of stillness you can feel in the empty city streets, in some ways helping you to imagine those kinds of familiar sounds more than a bustling, packed scene might.
